Fun in Autumn leaves!
Autumn leaves are so beautiful. Each one is unique. Collect leaves of different shapes, sizes and colours. Get your child to tell you what the leaves remind them of and why they chose the ones that they did. Children love finding leaves that look like animals, stars, monsters, ghosts and trees (see our poetry nature connector for ideas on taking this further).
Pile autumn leaves up and jump in them! Bury yourself and each other. Have a leaf fight! Leaves are so much fun.
After you have collected your leaves, use them to create some art. Below we have listed lots of ideas that you could choose from. Read through them and find one that appeals to you!
You could make a piece of outdoor nature art to photograph and leave for passers by to admire.
Make a nature collage with them by gluing them to paper.
Create cute leaf critters.
Make a leaf rainbow.
You can paint your leaf and then ‘print’ it onto a piece of paper. You can do this with markers too. Click here for instructions.
