Play ‘I Spy’
Go on a nature walk and play ‘I spy’!
Really make each other look closely at what’s around you. You can play traditional ‘I spy’, spying things that start with a certain letter e.g “I spy something starting with ‘T’. “ The other people playing have to guess what the object is that you can see.
For younger children who don’t know their letters, play I spy with colours, e.g. “I spy something red.”
You could introduce textures or senses, e.g. “I spy something that feels soft” or “I spy something that smells sweet.”
For older children you could introduce scientific concepts, e.g “I spy a native tree/weed” “I spy an insect/arachnid/mammal” “I spy a fungi” “I spy something using camouflage”.
