Make a Nature Costume
Today's Nature Connector is to make a nature costume. We've attached ideas below for making leaf crowns, nature bracelets and daisy chains. These leaf crowns and bracelets are great activities for our preschool explorers. You can click HERE for instructions on how to make magic wands. You could make a necklace from flowers, or a skirt from leaves. What else could you create? Unleash your creativity and use your imagination!
Challenge: can you make an entire outfit from natural items like leaves, sticks, branches and flowers?
Make this an art/technology/team work activity. Put children into groups and provide each group with string, tape, strips of card and glue (glue guns are good, as they dry quickly, but they will require supervision). Challenge them to make a costume from nature. The craft items that they have been given may be used to help give the costume’s structure and hold it together, but should not be able to be seen. They will need to explore outside to find materials to use. This activity might be best done when there are lots of autumn leaves around.
We'd love to see your wearable natural art, so don't forget to share a photo with us at KGT! We might add your photo to this page!
