Learn about Native Restoration Plants
These cards are a resource that Kids Greening Taupō use. We use them as a matching game with the plants that we have to plant at our Taupō native restoration sites. If people are trying to work out what a particular plant is, they can read the information on the back of the card that describes it to figure it out. It is for this reason that we describe the differences between similar looking species e.g. young tikouka and harakeke plants.
We have included interesting information and facts that we like to share about the plants. These often include traditional uses, rongoa, usage by native birds/invertebrates etc.
You can download the pdf of these cards here and print them out. We glued the name of the plant on one side and the information on the other and then laminated them to make cards.
Here is a printable matching game that you might like too. You could use them both together!
