Find Shells
Head out to the ocean/sea and walk along the beach finding different types of shells. Some of these listed below will be found living on the rocky areas at low tide. At high tide you won’t be able to access the living shelled creatures as they will be happily filter feeding under the lapping waves. How many of these can you find? What types of creatures do you think would like to live in the shells?
NOTE: please leave the shells on the beach. This is especially important in protected areas as you are not allowed to take them away from their natural site. Do not remove anything from rocks- this includes the muscles, limpets and barnacles. If they are on the beach, they likely won’t have anything living in them anymore so feel free to look closer at the shells and feel the different textures.
