NOW CLOSED- Applications for 2022 Student Leadership Teams

Applications closed Feb 13 2022

Applications for this programme are now closed. Thank you to everyone who applied. We had a huge number of applicants and have accepted 97 students to our 4 teams for this year!

The Kids Greening Taupō (KGT) Student Leadership Programme is an extra-curricular activity, run by the KGT education coordinators.

Things will be a bit different in 2022! We're making our teams more hands-on and getting out and about a bit more. We will be having four teams, a 'Nature Explorers' team, a 'Kaitiaki Crew', a ‘Senior Leadership Team’, and a 'Predator Free Kids' team.

*Note: These proposed teams may change depending on numbers/ages of applicants

The Nature Explorers (ages 7-10) and The Kaitiaki Crew (ages 10-14) are for children who are interested in connecting to nature, and learning about New Zealand's unique biodiversity and how to protect it, restore it, and teach others about it. They will learn through authentic conservation and restoration projects. They will have monthly meetings on Monday afternoons/evenings along with other fun experiences.

The Senior Leadership Team is for students aged 14-18. It will focus on using conservation knowledge and leadership skills to carry out an authentic project. They will take on a real conservation project for the year, plan it, meet with stake holders, and lead the project, (with coordinator support). If you or your business have a project that you think these students might be interested in, please let us know!

The Predator Free Kids Team (aged 9-15) will be setting up and maintaining a trapline, learning trapping skills from experts, learning bush navigation skills and learning about how to protect New Zealand's unique biodiversity. Predator Free Kids meetings will generally be monthly on Thursdays 3:30-5:00, however as we will often be out and about these times may change, depending on the planned activity.

Kim Manunui

Hi, I’m Kim and I work with a great team to help individuals, as well as small and not so small businesses get their message, product and services to the world using digital media and creating wonderful websites that don’t cost the earth.

I was born in Canada, and grew up around Vancouver and the mountains of British Columbia. My love of pristine environments led me to New Zealand and eventually to the mountains, lakes and rivers of the central North Island which is home. My family’s heritage is here, and it’s from here that Korio traverses the planet.

The digital world is never static and neither are we.

And I say ‘we’ because I work with an awesome group of talented people who I gather together as required to complete a project.  Whatever your business, not-for-profit or individual needs are we gather the best team to get the job done.

Collaboratively we are creative, share sustainable values and work hard for great outcomes because that’s the buzz of satisfaction that drives us.

If you have an audience and market to reach, we can make that happen. Creative design, words that work and smart behind the scenes stuff that cuts through the online noise. We’ll design your website and then build it. We’ll manage the content as well as all your hosting needs. We can handle your online advertising so you get noticed,
and we’ll manage your social media presence so you get the clicks, likes and engagement to grow your business. All within the budget you set, because none of this needs to cost the earth.  And the job doesn’t stop when your website goes live. We are your virtual business partner.
