Award winning author/illustrator Donovan Bixley created this original piece of art at Greening Taupō Day 2023, a planting event and environmental festival. He generously donated it to Kids Greening Taupō, to be auctioned off. We are super excited to be selling this beautiful piece of art.
About the art:
It is mixed media- watercolour, coloured ink, and coloured pencil on watercolour card. The size, including the frame, is 35cm x 45cm. The frame has natural wood colour edges inside a black wooden box frame.
'The painting depicts a native New Zealand kārearea (New Zealand falcon) swooping from the branch of a rimu tree, and was inspired by the recent release of kārearea on Mt Tauhara, as well as the amazing work of Kid’s Greening Taupō and other environmental organisations around the region. The picture imagines a time in our future when kārearea are a common sight, and when the work of Greening Taupō has matured to glorious native areas lush with our unique flora and fauna.' -Donovan Bixley
