Greening Taupō Day Art Competition

By asking students to draw some of the native animals, plants and fungi of Aotearoa we hoped to get them thinking about how special our unique species are. We have to say we were blown away by how much talent, thought and mahi went into so many of the entries - which made judging extremely difficult. Our teachers also had the option to enter this year and they did not disappoint. Our youngest entrant was only 10 months old! A massive congratulations to our winning artists:

5 Years and Under: 1st – Luke, My Treehut. 2nd – Pippa, Marotiri School. 3rd – Kōwhai, St Patrick’s Catholic School

 6-8 Year Olds: 1st – Stella, Marotiri School, 2nd – Zane, Waipāhīhī School, 3rd – Lena, Lake Taupō Christian School 

9-10 Year Olds: 1st – Anahera, St Patrick’s Catholic School, 2nd – Poppy, St Patrick’s Catholic School, 3rd – Lochlon, Reporoa Primary 

11 Years and Over: 1st – Carys, Taupō Intermediate. 2nd – Haylen, Tirohanga School. 3rd – Sophia, St Patrick’s Catholic School

The teacher category winners were: 1st – Debbie, St Patrick’s Catholic School & 2nd – Carrie, Lake Taupo Christian School  

Lastly, the lucky winner of a class visit by author/illustrator Donovan Bixley was Karen Watson’s year 3 class from Taupō Primary School.
