Students Take on the Contact Energy Take Action Fund
Thank you so much Contact Energy! You are awesome!
We gathered our Senior Student Leadership Team together to review all the applications to the Contact Energy Take Action Fund 2025. Contact Energy generously gives us money each year to share between our schools and ECE centres for equipment and projects. Also, every school/ECE centre that signs up for our programme receives $300 a year (for the first 3 years only) to use for gear such as gloves and tools. This allows them to participate fully in our mahi.
Further funding for plants comes from First Credit Union and The Possum Trail Run. We are so lucky to have such awesome sponsors!
All local schools and ECE centres could apply for funding for projects that they would like to do in 2025 to connect tamariki to nature or increase biodiversity. We ask them to get their students to make a video explaining what they want the money for and to send it to us along with some quotes/prices.
Our Student Leaders met to look at the applications and help to decide who to allocate the money to. After a quick snack, the students watched each applicants’ video and read their application, then split into groups to discuss how much of the potential funds they should be allocated. We loved watching how engaged the students were in this process and listening to the lively discussions that were sparked! Stay tuned for the results…
