Teacher PD Bush Walk

Do all trees look the same to you? Would you like to learn about our interesting native trees, how to identify them and what makes each one special? Do you know which ones have edible berries? Do you want to learn about what they were used for in the past? We will tell you the stories and help you to understand the importance of our native bush.

Spend an afternoon with us at Opepe Reserve, one of the last remaining areas of original native forest in Taupō, and learn about the interesting native flora and fauna that can be seen there. We will take a leisurely stroll through the ngahere, stopping to tell stories about the interesting plants and animals as we go.

This session is designed for teachers who would like to become more confident at taking students on bushwalks, those who want to increase their knowledge of our native flora and fauna, and those who would like to see what KGT could offer their students. We regularly take school/ECE groups for guided visits to Opepe, so you could check out the experience and see if it’s something that you would like to book in for Term 4. It’s a great place to learn about biodiversity, ecosystems, native plants/animals, and to understand why we do restoration planting.
