Freshwater Macroinvertebrates with Ruud
We had a fun couple of days supporting Ruud Kleinpaste from Field-Based STEM with his sessions at Waipahihi School. The school asked him to teach the students about bugs that live in water. He called us and asked where he could get some freshwater macroinvertebrates from. We said that we knew just who to call!
Our friends at Tongariro National Trout Centre helped out and turned up with buckets of freshwater macro invertebrates for the tamariki to look at. It was perfect timing, as their new educator had just started and was able to join us and learn from ‘Bugman’, Ruud Kleinpaste too.
It was great to collaborate and all learn from each other. We love the collaborative opportunities like this that come up through Taupo EEC.
Thanks Ruud for taking our coordinators, Rachel and Heidi, on a nocturnal bug hunt too. We always love exploring with you!
