Pick Up Litter
Litter is a huge problem globally. It is our responsibility as kaitiaki (guardians) of te taiao (the environment) to leave no trace where we go. Unfortunately, not everyone acts responsibly and they leave rubbish around the environment. It is our duty to pick up any rubbish as we see it, so that it doesn’t make it’s way into our beautiful waterways, or the stomachs of our unique native species.
Next time you head into nature, take some reusable gloves out with a bag to collect any rubbish in. Dispose of the rubbish you find in a public bin, or your household waste.

We are extremely lucky to have such dedicated local experts and volunteers who are willing to work with our local schools in their area of interest. Pictured below: Tauhara College and Lake Taupō Christian School working with Carol Lamb from Tidy Taupō to clean up a local gully.
