Make Natural Dyes/Paint
Go for a wander around your garden and look for colour in nature. Experiment with colourful flowers, leaves and berries that you find. If you have young children around you, please ensure that they do not put any inedible berries in their mouths. The colour paint that each item makes might be quite different to what you expect. Crush each item with a mortar and pestle until a paste forms. Add some boiling water and leave it to cool down. Try using this mixture to paint with! Experiment with different items and with different combinations to see what colours you can make.
Watch the video below to get more ideas. They strain their mixture and add honey to bind it. You could try this to see if it makes the colour better.

If you would like an extra challenge, try tie-dying clothing! HERE is a video from Shannon at the Taupō District Council teaching us how to tie-dye clothing with natural dyes. Have fun!
