Have a Picnic
Put down a towel or blanket and take some snacks outside. Listen to the birds, watch the clouds, breathe in that incredible fresh air! Share your food with some friends and enjoy connecting with nature and special people.
If you have a forest, or bush area nearby, take your picnic and head there! It’s so magical to sit under a tree canopy and watch birds flitting around while you eat your kai. Check out this Nature Connector for some fun activities to do while watching birds and listening to their songs.
In Japan, it is a tradition to have a picnic with friends and family under the cherry blossom trees when they are blooming. This is called ‘Hanami’. We love making lots of sushi and taking it to eat under the blossom trees with friends in the springtime. If you’re lucky, you might spot tui and bellbirds enjoying the blossoms too.
To encourage friends and family to ditch single use packaging, try hosting a ‘Nude Food Picnic’.
If you want to extend this activity have a game of ‘I spy’ and look closely at the things around you!
