Mulching Days 2022!

Everyone loves coming to help plant trees. Unfortunately, once the tree is in the ground, the mahi is not over. That tree will require ongoing maintenance and support to be able to survive. This realisation has led to us having a variety of events to involve the community in watering, weeding and mulching. It has been a great opportunity to educate our youth about what we do, why we do it, and how they can help the native trees to survive to hopefully become our ngahere of the future.

Our first Taupō EEC mulching event for Term 4, 2022 was at Crown Park. Almost 200 tamariki turned up to help mulch the 4500 trees planted for Greening Taupo Day 2022 and give them a better chance of surviving the hot summer. They enjoyed an ice cream for their hard work, thanks to Drive EV . Jenni from Waikato Enviroschools and Shannon from Taupō District Council helped scoop them all. Thanks so much to Greening Taupo and the Wicked Weeders for their help and to TDC for organising all the mulch. Thanks to Andrea from Blue Light Taupo for her help too. We even had sounds from Quality Print Ltd 's rubbish bin speaker. What an awesome community effort!

This day was supported by teachers and tamariki from Tauhara Primary School, Taupo Taupo Intermediate School Mountview School -Te Kura o Te Maunga i Kitea and Taupo Homeschoolers

A week later we did it again, spreading mulch around the hidden trees at the Matariki site by the Waikato awa. Students from ADDI Consultancy, Taupo Primary School, St Patrick's Catholic School, Taupo, Taupo-nui-a-Tia College, TKKM o Whakarewa I Te Reo Ki Tuwharetoa and a Homeschool Group went on a treasure hunt in the tall grass to weed, mulch and stake the native trees. The day could not have run as smoothly without the help of Robyn from Greening Taupo and her Wicked Weeders helping to identify plants, Andrea from Blue Light Taupo scooping ice cream, and the Radio Rubbish bin again bringing a party atmosphere courtesy of Shawn Vennell at Quality Print Ltd. Carol Lamb fromTidy Taupō helped to clear the site of rubbish as well.

Over these two days of events we had over 450 people help weed and mulch 7000 trees! A huge thank you to all for your hard work. You deserved those ice creams!

Kim Manunui

Hi, I’m Kim and I work with a great team to help individuals, as well as small and not so small businesses get their message, product and services to the world using digital media and creating wonderful websites that don’t cost the earth.

I was born in Canada, and grew up around Vancouver and the mountains of British Columbia. My love of pristine environments led me to New Zealand and eventually to the mountains, lakes and rivers of the central North Island which is home. My family’s heritage is here, and it’s from here that Korio traverses the planet.

The digital world is never static and neither are we.

And I say ‘we’ because I work with an awesome group of talented people who I gather together as required to complete a project.  Whatever your business, not-for-profit or individual needs are we gather the best team to get the job done.

Collaboratively we are creative, share sustainable values and work hard for great outcomes because that’s the buzz of satisfaction that drives us.

If you have an audience and market to reach, we can make that happen. Creative design, words that work and smart behind the scenes stuff that cuts through the online noise. We’ll design your website and then build it. We’ll manage the content as well as all your hosting needs. We can handle your online advertising so you get noticed,
and we’ll manage your social media presence so you get the clicks, likes and engagement to grow your business. All within the budget you set, because none of this needs to cost the earth.  And the job doesn’t stop when your website goes live. We are your virtual business partner.
