Local Environmental Educators BBQ
Taupo Environmental Educators Collaborative (EEC) are a group of environmental educators who work together to put on events and teacher professional development workshops. We recently hosted a BBQ for all of the friends of EEC who have worked with us during the year, or might like to work with us in the future. It was really lovely to spend time chatting over kai and making new connections.
The event was organised by our core group from Kids Greening Taupō, DOC, Waikato Regional Council, Taupō District Council, Enviroschools, Predator Free Taupō and Project Tongariro. Epro ran the BBQ and KGT scooped ice creams for the tamariki. Misfits Gardens brought along some of their produce and Mynoke took away the waste for their worms. The Botanical Gardens were fantastic hosts and we loved being in their little piece of paradise, watching kererū and tui swoping overhead. We were also joined by educators from the Community Gardens, Blue Light Taupō, Save the Kiwi, and Taupō for Tomorrow.
What an awesome collaborative event. It was nice to just be relaxing together, rather than working together like we usually are at events!
