We're looking for a Kairuruku reo Māori to work in Tūrangi/Taupō and surrounding rural areas with kura and kōhanga reo. With the school term starting soon, we are really keen to find the right person to join our little team ASAP.
Do you speak Te Reo Māori? Do you have a love for te taiao and enjoy working with tamariki? Do you want a job that has flexible hours and can work in with your family life or studies? If you answered 'yes' to those questions, this is the job for you!
Passion, enthusiasm and a willingness to learn are a must. Knowledge of conservation work and our unique native flora and fauna can be learnt on the job. The successful applicant will get on the job training through a variety of experiences connecting young people with conservation work. Every day is an adventure! The role is fixed term and part time (up to 20 hours per week) with flexible hours.
The role predominantly involves working in the Taupō/Tūrangi area with kura kaupapa, kōhanga reo, and rumaki in mainstream schools. The kairuruku will help to connect tamariki to te taiao and involve them in authentic restoration and conservation work. They will also work on some te reo Māori resource development.
It's a fun role that will open up future career pathways. You will learn a variety of new skills, make great connections, and get involved in fantastic community work.
