Teacher Professional Development- Birds of Aotearoa

Our Term 1 teacher professional development opportunity is coming up soon! We're excited to be working with Forest and Bird Taupō to put on this fun, educational and informative session for local teachers.

Join us for a teacher professional development session all about the birds of Aotearoa! Kids Greening Taupō will tell you about the history of our birds, explaining why they are so unique and vulnerable. They'll share resources and games that you could use with your class. They’ll also tell you about what they could come in to do with your class.

Then, Anthea, from Forest and Bird Taupō will talk about how to identify some of our most commonly seen birds and also some special endemic species that you may see in the Taupō area. She'll share details of online resources, apps and games that you could use with your class. She will also show you how to do a garden bird survey with your class.

We will finish with a short walk in the beautiful Waipahihi Botanical Reserve to bird watch and try out our new bird identification skills!
