Transforming spaces at Children's Corner
In less than a year, Kids Greening Taupō helped Children’s Corner transform a neglected strip of land behind their building into their own “Sanctuary”.
The vision was to create an inviting space for native birds, bugs, lizards, and children to come together. The journey started by turning neglected bins into working compost bins, trimming back over grown plants to provide space to explore and repurposing discarded material into useful items. The children planted with Kids Greening Taupō areas to encourage lizards to roam and bees and other pollinators to fly around.
By adding a gate to the area in term 4 not only provided security, but a sense of enchantment. When the children enter through, they emerge into their own hidden sanctuary in the middle of town. A place filled with unknown treasure and adventures waiting to be had.
